ABOUT US

Over 45 years ago, Michael and Claire Field opened a wholesale supply shop on Wicklow Street in Dublin. Michael was a trained goldsmith and Claire had studied fine art. The combination of their skills lead to a successful collaboration of design and production for their unique, handcrafted Irish jewellery. In 1986, the pair moved to Spiddal, Galway to open a manufacturing workshop, “Galway Gold.” Having moved to the scenic west and living in the Gaeltacht, their works evolved to include more celtic designs and a focus on the claddagh. In 1996, the couple opened a shop in Foxford, Mayo, named “Foxford Jewellery.” This shop is still located in the Woolen Mills. They continue to create their pieces by hand. In 2011, Clare and Michael’s son, Lorcan Field, decided to open his own shop, also named “Foxford Jewellery”  in Corbett Court in Galway City. Not only does Lorcan include his parents' designs in the shop, but he creates his own work through 3D design and printing. Using this practice cuts down the production time but still maintains his family tradition, while using a modern technique. With the success of this shop, Lorcan opened “Heart in Hands” in 2022 in the popular location of Quay Street in the City Centre. Everyday, streams of tourists and locals stop in and enjoy the collection of distinctive jewellery. Foxford Jewellery, including all three locations, continues to create jewellery that represent over four decades of craftsmanship and a connection to Ireland.
